Mt. Carmel Medical Center 2009 Gala

Mount Carmel Foundation hosted their 25th Anniversary Gala in February 2009 this year at Pittsburg's Memorial Auditorium and we had the honor of creating the Gala Dessert! The menu for the evening included a Tiffany Salad, 25th Silver Anniversary Entree (six oz. filet and bordelaise sauce accompanied by Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with Gorgonzola Fire and Ice asparagus spears sauteed in lemon pepper and Phantom of the Opera shrimp scampi skewer), and last but not least our Celebration European Chocolate (Semi-Sweet dark chocolate dessert cups filled with layered chocolate, raspberry and Irish creme dusted with delicate silver flakes, attended by silver Jordan almonds). Here is what they looked like:

The Mt. Carmel Kitchen staff did an amazing job of plating the desserts and adding a beautiful swirl of raspberry to the plate for color.

We hand painted each trim of the Belgian Chocolate dessert cups, cut out the layered chocolate pieces, put it all together and crafted each of the white chocolate filigree pieces that topped off the dessert. The Irish Creme was freshly made the day of the event and piped on to each and every one, all 325 of them (or 335..i lost count)! Here is a picture of the delicate dessert displayed on the Anniversary silver decorated tables.

These elegant confections were specifically designed for the 25th Anniversary Gala and will most likely never be replicated, just like the memories made that evening.

These were a lot of work, but the end result makes it all worth while. We would like to say thank you to the foundation for letting us sweeten up their event and continuing to provide Pittsburg and the surrounding area with such a caring medical facility!
